Spolier Nation: when the name of a movie makes news!

I latched onto a new trend in movie-geekdom a few weeks back, when Shia LeBeof dropped this title at the MTV Awards -- "this is a big deal ya'll," he said.

Really, since when is just the name of anything big news?

'Sure 'nuff, it made all the papers. Geez, must be a "slow newsday," I thought. Or have we all slipped into the 'uber-geekness world reserved for Trekkies -- (or people that enjoy slow rides on those short yellow buses)?

'gaaag, even script deals are news... that website: Ain't It Cool (lives on spoiling flicks before one frame is shot) ....today, they pointed to an article where a bit actor leaked that "the Soviet Army was searching for a [crucifix] skull in the jungles of South America..."

Um... can Speilberg please get a script lock down?! -- 'mean if every detail is gonna be leaked....'why exactly should anyone pay to see this movie?

'worse are websites that review "movie scripts" before they are even shot -- (I 'shat you not) -- this site offered up a review of the shooting script for Sweeny Todd:

"I’m sure the sets, production values, etc. etc. will be top drawer...I guess my only concern here is that (Tim) Burton has a habit of making EVERYTHING he does look the same as those cartoony sketches he originally drew for THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS ...if I see another BEETLEJUICE ā€œBurton treeā€ in one of his movies, I think I’m gonna puke."

puking over trees that don't yet exist sounds awfully strange...but, there's more: "So everything rests on the director and the leads. They have amazing material in hand...If the filmmakers do their job well, you will feel empathy and sympathy for the murderous, vengeful Sweeney by the end of his sad tale." -- Dude, how can anyone feel sympathy if you offer a blow-by-blow dissection of every dramatic detail?? -- 'Isn't that's like asking for empathy when we watch a rerun?
