A rose by any other namePoor Rose. I guess playing a girl with a machine gun leg has limited the roles offered to her. I'm sure sleeping with the director and blowing up his marriage had nothing to do with it.
Rumor has it that the Wachowski brothers had originally intended to cast Rose as Trixie in Speed Racer, but because of all the plastic surgery she's had done, they were worried that audiences couldn't recognize her anymore. She sure has glommed it up since her Charmed days, but claims she had to do it because of a car accident. That was like 20 procedures ago.
The producers had also originally wanted to cast Zac Efron as the male lead, but decided he was "too young" so they went with another actor. I remember Speed Racer from Saturday morning cartoons. The central character was a young boy with a need for speed, so I don't think age was a factor. I think the producers were worried that by the time the movie comes out, Zac will have, too, and their movie would be overshadowed by his emergence from the same closet John Travolta and Tom Cruise are still huddled in.
