Chuck castNeither of them particularly intrigued me and they both are on at the same time as other shows that I would prefer to watch (How I Met Your Mother and I hate to admit it but Gossip Girl) but I caught up with some of the episodes online (sorry writer's strike) and I have to give them both B+'s.
Bionic Woman stars relatively unknown British actress Michelle Ryan as the bionic femme fatale. What is good is we had a major butt-kicking hottie void since Buffy went off the air (plus Ryan actually looks like she could play professional basketball unlike Sarah Michelle Gellar who looks like a toothpick would be heavy for her) and the story lines are intriguing and it is all a wonderful metaphor for feminism, blah blah blah. What is bad is that they replaced Mae Whitman, an excellent young actress, with some stick model to play Jaime's sister and they gave Isaiah Washington a gig. Oh and what is also good is that they cast Jordan Bridges (Beau's son and Jeff's nephew) to play her love interest. He has gotten extremely hot since his weird stint on Dawson's Creek a few years ago). Anyway. her Bionic powers are awesome and I must say she probably puts Lindsay Wagner's Bionic woman to shame.
Okay and now on to Chuck. The casting was good except are we really supposed to believe that the actually very cute and charming Zachary Levi is supposed to be a nerd?! I mean he made Rachel Bilson fall for him in like 5 seconds. Well anyway he is very funny and I would totally go out with him to begin with so the spy stuff is just an added bonus. Yvonne Strahovski came from nowhere to play his female spy Yoda/love interest. She is good but nothing special and looked pretty boring next to Rachel Bilson's Lou. It was refreshing to see Bilson on the small screen and not saying Cohen every 2 seconds. Sarah Lancaster plays Chuck's mothering sister. I have said it before but there is something about Lancaster that I absolutely despise and I really wish she would quit acting and move to North Dakota and work on a farm but there is least most annoying role so ffar. And her very studly boyfriend, who Chuck calls Captain Awesome, is played by the very funny Ryan McPartlin. Anyway they are both good shows and I believe they have a few new episodes left before TV dies.
Chuck and Bionic Woman are pretty good shows and eerily similar. NBC is really into that whole spy thing.
