Tina Fey
Are men and women's brains wired so differently such that only men can be funny?
As I read through Ruth Fowlers article -- ("Why periods are no joke," see source link below) -- I only agreed with one thing: "Tina Fey can be hilarious - particularly Fey, with her excellent (self-written) 30 Rock..."
Fowler (a female) goes on to point out that when women talk issues they just aren't funny. Pointing to Chris Rock observations on marriage: "You have to share the same focus," he yells out to the audience. "And what's that focus? HER!."
I'm guessing the main idea here is that men - like a beast in the wilds surviving for scraps - 'have no choice but to "be funny" -- while women, who essentially have the goodies - hence no fight left....'so well, evolution just never developed a funny bone.
"Although I find the whimsical Sarah Silverman, with her revoltingly kitsch drivel...(most women)...a little bit like dressing up on a Friday night." Continues Fowler.
"We pretend it's for our own self-esteem or for attracting a life partner/weekend shag, when we all know a man couldn't care less whether you're wearing Chanel or H&M - unlike our girlfriends. Women check out other women more than men do. "
I don't doubt that women check each other out as much -- (if not more so than men) -- but, I kinda think that "funny-bone" -- on either the female or male sex, originates from pahos...and having a twisted take on things life brings us.
Trust me, I've come across some dudes that swear that they are knock down funny...and try-as-they-may aren't.
