This is just one of her homesThere are times I feel bad for Oprah. Her parents seem to have issues: her father threatened to write a tell-all about his billionaire daughter but was "silenced" (read: paid off) by her attorneys and just kinda ... disappeared. Has anyone seen Vern lately?
Oprah and her mother may have some monetary issues as well. An upscale boutique in Brookfield, WI has filed suit against Vernita Lee for more than $150,000 in unpaid shopping charges. I'm not a big Oprah fan (I think she's fallen out of touch with the little people) but I thought she claimed to have a close, loving relationship with her mom. Cyndi Lauper was right; money does change everything.
Have Vernita and her exalted offspring had a falling out? Or is Oprah just learning to budget her billions? Before you feel bad for the beleaguered victim of massive fame and fortune, take a look at her crib. This is O's 40-acre estate in Montecito. Since her show films in Chicago she's hardly there, but still manages to use 10 million gallons of water per year in an area where residents are being asked to reuse shower water. Maybe when all the reservoirs have been drained she can buy everyone brand new water that they can have for free if they can afford the taxes.
